A struggling musician is on the verge of giving it up. A freak accident and he senses back in the world devoid of any memory of the The Beatles. Has he struck a goldmine or is he in a bigger mess?
“Slumdog Millionaire” creator Danny Boyle is bringing back his magic on screen with his next, starring Himesh Patel as Jack Malik, Lily James as Ellie and Ed Sheeran as E.J. Yesterday trailer hit the internet just a while ago while the movie is set to release on June 28.
Yesterday trailer shows that after a global blackout one night, musician Jack Malik (Himesh Patel) wakes up the next morning and plays the Beatles’ hit track ‘Yesterday’ to his friends. They are surprised by his sudden spurt in songwriting talent and so is Jack as all traces of The Beatles and their music have somehow vanished after the blackout.
Jack takes this as a chance to start his own musical career by plagiarizing the once classic hits thereby becoming an overnight star. While his newfound success has definitely impacted his life in some cases for the better, in other cases it causes the relationships he has built with his friends and family to crumble. Is Jack doing something wrong or right by gifting the world The Beatles’ music once again?
The premise, the movie’s first trailer, and music score- everything has captured people’s attention. The movie has new versions of The Beatles’ hits along with pop star Ed Sheeran, who seems to be taking digs at himself.
Yesterday trailer is already viral and has left the netizens divided yet amused at the same time.
Ok, this might be a fun premise, but come on, it’s complete NONSENSE. There’s NO WAY someone would become world famous with The Beatles’ hits when suddenly noone would remember them. Simply because…by today’s standards, they’re pretty boring? #Yesterday https://t.co/M1hqb2h3Ss

I found this movie trailer genuinely interesting. A struggling singer-songwriter suffers an accident and wakes up in a world where The Beatles never existed–so he starts “writing” their tunes to great acclaim.

These songs are pretty catchy. Can’t wait for the soundtrack.

If the Beatles never existed in the universe of YESTERDAY, then what song does Wes Anderson use in THE ROYAL TENENBAUMS to illustrate the beauty and freedom of that hawk?
ANSWER ME COWARDS.

Not sure how I feel about “Yesterday” The entire premise is interesting, but I’d find it hard to believe that without the Beatles that the entire pop culture landscape would be exactly the same.
