What would you say if you come to know that your favorite Hollywood character has been based on your favorite mythological figure? Surreal, right?

Ted Elliott, one of the screenwriters for Jack Sparrow’s character, shocked the world, particularly Indians, when he disclosed that the famous character has been inspired from Lord Krishna. As we all know, Jack Sparrow is a trickster, who often uses his wit and words to get out of sticky situations, as opposed to physical force.

Here is what Ted Elliott said in a statement, as per DNA.

“Jack Sparrow’s character in Pirates of the Caribbean is one of the most integral part of the film. The characterization of Sparrow is based on Lord Krishna who is a major deity in Hinduism. While writing the character sketch of Jack Sparrow, we referred to the description of Lord Krishna, various shades of the Almighty, which helped us a lot in making the whole character of Jack Sparrow into existence.”

Pirates Of The Caribbean is undoubtedly one of the most popular Hollywood franchise. The first film came out in 2003 after which the character of Jack Sparrow, played by Johnny Depp, gained a cult status among fans.

The revelation comes as a sweet surprise. This big confession has left fans into a frenzy as #JackSparrowIsKrishna witnessed a strong trend on Twitter.
