Alert! WhatsApp Will Stop Working On These Smartphones Very Soon

It is not a hoax. WhatsApp may stop working on your smartphone soon!

Yes, you read that right. Your favorite app has recently updated its mobile devices support page which has a list of devices that would no longer support the application by the end of 2018.

“These platforms don’t offer the kind of capabilities we need to expand our app’s features in the future,” Financial Express quoted WhatsApp’s statement. “If you use one of these affected mobile devices, we recommend upgrading to a newer iOS version, or to a newer Android running OS.”

In simpler words, the world’s most popular messaging app will no longer work on some phones by the end of this year. Do you want to check are you that unlucky one? Well, here is everything you need to know about the devices that will lose WhatsApp support this year:

  • Nokia

As the report suggests, WhatsApp will stop support for all devices running on Nokia S40 platform by the end of this year. The existing users will not be able to create new accounts or re-verify existing accounts.

  • Android:

It’s an alarm bell for all smartphones running on Android 2.1 (Eclair) and Android 2.2 (Froyo). No more WhatsApp after this year!

  • iPhones:

WhatsApp has stopped support for iPhone 3GS and devices running on iOS 6.

  • Blackberry:

Users with smartphones running on BlackBerry OS, BlackBerry 10 and older platforms too will not get WhatsApp going forward.

  • Windows Phone:

Users with smartphones running Windows Phone 8.0 too will not get WhatsApp updates this year. Upgrade now!

Note: Not only this, users on the older platforms listed above cannot transfer their chat history to new devices. So better hurry while the sun is still shining!
