Yeah, it is that time of the year. As 2018 crawls to an end, let us take a deep breath and take a look back at the year went by. And to what it offered to us.
2018 was no less than a roller coaster for any netizen. While it was #MeToo that demanded our attention most of the time, the high-profile celeb wedding too kept us entertained throughout the year. Let Ourtitbits take you on a quick trip down the memory lane to give you one last look at both proud worthy as well some shameful Twitter moments of 2018.
Here are some of the noteworthy Twitter moments of 2018 when Indians flocked on the social media to discuss, debate, deliberate, celebrate and even rant (not in any particular order):
Yes, it is that extremely shameful moment when ace Indian footballer Sunil Chhetri had to fold hands and appeal to cricket-crazy Indian public to show an iota of support to football too. What a shame on us to make an Indian team captain do something like this!
The appeal went viral in no time as it led to man endless threads of debate and discussions.
In our country of 130+ crores we force talented players like #SunilChhetri to appeal to public to show support and encouragement towards football.SHAME ON US
— Sultan Shaikh (@sultan8377) June 16, 2018
It was good though that the appeal did not go in vain as some 9000 spectators turned up at the Mumbai Football Arena to witness Indian football captain Sunil Chhetri’s 100th international game against Kenya on June 4.
Although whispers of sexual abuse keep coming and going inside show business, 2018 will be forever will be deemed as the year when skeletons fell out from many closets (read Alok Nath, Sajid Khan), all thanks to torchbearer Tanushree Dutta. With women from all walks of life flooded Twitter from life baring tirades of misconduct in their workspaces, the world did seem an awful place to live in.
Well, 2018 was the official year of celeb weddings. When our Desi girl crossed over and tied knots with very handsome and recently titled GQ’s Most Stylish Man 2018 Nick Jonas, the whole global Twitter could not contain its calm.

Talking about celeb wedding, DeepVeer wedding will be remembered for a long time to come. Right from their wedding invitation to leaked pics to officially released pics from the wedding and various receptions, memers got a fodder to feed on as they flooded Twitter with their wit and jokes.

Apart from Indian Bollywood stars, there was another wedding that the whole world attended collectively. The royal wedding- a talk of the town as well as the butt of many memes and jokes.
Hopefully Royal Family will bring in a South Asian angle to this wedding by running out of food and sending Prince William on motorcycle to buy rice. #HappenedToMe

Kajol’s mobile number:
Kajol not in country.. co-ordinate with her on WhatsApp 9820123300.
— Ajay Devgn (@ajaydevgn) September 24, 2018
Yeah, one fine day in September, Ajay Devgn got up from the bed and tweeted accidentally (or intentionally) his wife Kajol’s mobile number (turned out later it was just a prank). As expected, the tweet went viral within a few minutes with Twitter fans going from shock to disbelief to jubilation.

7. Anup Jalota:
Strange world is this world of show business. When Bigg Boss Season 12 premiered on Sept. 16, otherwise the religious-looking man Anup Jalota of “aisi laagi lagan….” fame became the butt of jokes when he entered the show with his girlfriend 37 years younger than him. The following some days were flooded with jokes on Anup Jalota and his love affair on social media as well on in our Whatsapp inboxes.

Remember #toomuchofRadhikaApte? Well, first with Padman, then Lust Stories, Sacred Games, and later Ghoul and recently Andhadhun, the actress was definitely toast of 2018 as well as of Netflix. However, when Netflix announced Ghoul after a successful run of Lust Stories and Sacred Games, Twitterati threw a tantrum that the streaming service is showing “too much of Radhika Apte.”

The debate lasted for quite a long time with Netflix further igniting the debate with witty tweets about the actress’ ‘omnipresence,’ which was followed by other brands like Zomato, KFC, Dominos and Lifebuoy going with the flow. Quite a brilliant marketing tactic indeed!

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau visited India in February with his wife and three kids. Surprisingly, the visit was anything but well as Trudeau hopped from one place to another in what seemed to be more of Indian drama costumes. Not only commoners back in Canada reportedly sulked over their PM’s “behavior in India,” Twitterati surely had a field day as they seemingly stumbled upon a goldmine of memes.
Justin Trudeau’s India visit has proved one thing.
He has more Indian outfits than all the men in my family combined!

Much before his wedding, Ranveer Singh caught everyone’s attention but for the wrong reason this time. In an interview given to Conde Nast Traveller, the “Padmavati” actor called him so “poor” that he could only go to yearly US trips as a child. Aww, poor you, that must be terrible!
Well, as soon as the statement got out, the hashtag “#YoRanveerSoPoor” started trending as Twitter users made jokes, memes and laughed at what seems to be the actor’s super-insensitive comment.
#YoRanveerSoPoor He had only 5 servants growing up and all of them were poor.
