White and pastels are acing the race in the fashion world. Be it the casual or couture space, we are seeing a dominance of ivory and other shades of white over the past couple of months. White is undoubtedly the present style mantra!
Right from designers, international stars, royalty to Bollywood’s style divas and fashion bloggers, everyone has been stepping up their fashion game with white. In fact, the just-concluded Indian Couture Week 2018 in the capital saw designers like Suneet Varma, Rahul Mishra, Reynu Taandon, Amit Aggarwal and Falguni Shane Peacock play with bespoke embroidery and embellishments over white and pastels.
Be it Priyanka Chopra’s airport looks or Sonam Kapoor’s famous off-beat ivory lehenga choli for her Mehendi and sangeet ceremony, white is everywhere. This colour works well with both contemporary as well as traditional contemporary designs and patterns so do not think much. Use these styling tips on how to wear white and add some elegance to your look:
- White Denim:
White jeans look fresh, stylish but only if they are style properly. Avoid going all white. Pair your white denim with a contrast top- camouflage Tee, floral printed blouse, plain coloured Tee or checkered button-down shirts.
- White Tee:
Just because it is simple to sound does not mean it’s easy to find the perfect one for you. Shop around well to find the perfect white Tee for you. Remember, crew-neck or high-neck tees tend to look best on small-chested women, while V-necks and scoop-necks are flattering on almost all body types.
- Arm Yourself:
If you are wearing a white ensemble, better arm yourself for the accidents as nothing looks worse than a stained white outfit. Always carry baby wipes that have incredible cleaning power against water-based and grass stains. Just in case, carry a sweater or cardigan you can pull over your shirt or tie around your waist- depending on the case!
- White Skirt:
While white denim may not work for everyone, there is a white skirt for everyone. Pick from a range of silhouettes to find one that suits your body type and personal style, and for another, you can wear it during a heat wave and still be comfortable. Just make sure that the material is not see-through under the light.
- White Saree:
White saree is no more boring. In fact, wearing white or off-white sarees can be a huge fashion step as it gives a window to style the saree with some super cool, bright colored blouse.
