Social dramas are here to stay!
Social dramas seem to be emerging as a sure shot hit formula of hit movies. It touches people’s nerve, provokes thought and gives the audience a hope of a better future. Riding on the wave, here comes another such movie Raid, starring Ajay Devgn, Ileana D’Cruz, and Saurabh Shukla.
T-Series dropped the trailer of “Raid” just a while ago and its already riding the trending chart. The movie is set in the 1980s and is claimed to be based on true incidents.
The trailer begins with Ajay Devgn’s character knocking on a door of what seems like a guarded fort rather than someone’s house. With an exchange of threatful “andar dekh rahey ho?” and “baahar dekh rahey ho?”, the gates open up- of the fort as well as of the plotline.
It turns out that Ajay is playing a “Newton” inspired too-honest-to-be true tax official posted in Lucknow after 49 transfers. His recent aim is a local don-like character played by Saurabh Shukla, who is confident enough that the raid team will not find anything in his house.
And then comes the whistles and clap-worthy bumper one-liner:
“Mai sirf shaadi waaley din hi sasural se khaali haath lauta thha, warna jiske ghar subah subah pahuch jaoo, kuchh na kuchh nikar kar hi laaya hoo.”
What ensues is high voltage drama, masala dialogues and some lone moments of Ileana’s character worrying about her husband’s safety. Does not it sound like a mix of Akshay Kumar’s “Special 26” and “Baby”?
Raid is directed by Raj Kumar Gupta of “Aamir,” “No One Killed Jessica” and “Ghanchakkar.” The movie is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, and Abhishek Pathak and is presented by Panorama Studios. The story and dialogues are penned down by Ritesh Shah, the critically-acclaimed screenwriter known for writing “Pink,” “Airlift” and “Kahaani”.
“Raid” is coming to cinemas on March 16. Untill then, watch the trailer below:
