Realty can be painful. And shocking! And heart-wrenching!
Tabrez Noorani’s directorial debut Love Sonia was in news for some time now. The fact that the movie was premiered at the London Film Festival earlier, where it received a rave response from the critics, as well as that the movie has an unbelievably stellar cast has kept us curious about the movie for a long time.
However, the buzz was nothing to prepare us for what Love Sonia has in store for us. Zee Studios dropped the trailer of the movie just a while ago and it has left a knot in our stomach, given the fact the movie is based on an actual true real-life event.
Love Sonia trailer begins with a grim picture of Preeti, an adolescent girl of 17 in the shackles of prostitution. It turns out that she was plucked off from her innocent village life and sold off by her father, apparently knowingly, in the deep dark world of prostitution.
The girl’s sister Sonia, played by Mrunal Thakur, rebels with her father and comes to the town to look for her sister, only to siphon up in the racket herself. And this turned out to be a journey of a lifetime for both the sisters as they swirl around in the vicious human trafficking network that is spread across India, Hong Kong, and Los Angeles.
The movie has a very strong ensemble cast of Manoj Bajpayee, Richa Chadha, Rajkummar Rao, Anupam Kher, Sai Tamhankar, Adil Hussain, Demi Moore, Mark Duplass, Freida Pinto, Mrunal Thakur and Riya Sisodiya.
Th trailer highlights the misery and deep, dark, unbelievable secrets of flesh trade, which, admit or not, very thrive exist in our society. The movie will hit theatres on Sept. 14. Until then, watch the trailer right here:
