Kolamavu Kokila: Nayanthara Proves Again In This ZEE5 Offering That She Is The Undisputed Lady Superstar

(Last Updated On: December 5, 2018)

Three Filmfare Awards for three different languages, record-breaking success and an unexpected yet super-impressive comeback- Nayanthara has proven time and again that she is a superstar and is here to rule the South Indian movies as no other actress has ever done before.

Over her span of a career of 14 years in the film industry, Nayanthara has done a variety of roles. Starting her career in 2005, this stunning actress tasted success with Tamil comedy horror movie “Chandramukhi,” which ran for her over 800 days in theatres, as per Wikipedia. In no time, she became the most sought after actress in the Tamil movie industry and very soon The Lucky Charm.

When 2011 saw only a single release of this successful actress, critics and fans alike predicted that her best days are over. Breaking the norms and stereotypes that are considered apt for an actress in India, Nayanthara made a massive comeback when she awed everyone with her improved self in “Krishnam Vande Jagadgurum.”

To date, the actress is still going very much strong and seems not ready to stop anytime soon. Be it the deaf girl seeking revenge in “Naanum Rowdy Dhaan” or a rape victim in “Puthiya Niyamam” or a village girl in “Thirunaals,” it has always been a treat to watch this Bangalore-girl on screen.

It is interesting to see that how Nayanthara has grown as an actress and as a person over a period of time. From playing commercial glam doll to leading a series of female-centric films, this actress has accomplished more than anyone could have ever expected from a woman in a male-dominated industry. A Lady Superstar for sure!

Nayanthara has now taken another leap to the world of internet with her Kolamavu Kokila. The movie is currently screening on ZEE5 and is an absolute delight to watch.

In Kolamavu Kokila, the actress plays the role of a Tamil girl who gets into the drug dealing business to support her ailing mother. However, things went out of control with the involvement of police and her fall out with the drug lord.

Although Nayanthara’s latest movie is praised for its “Breaking Bad” kind of treatment, the best part about it is how the film treats even the darkest situations with humour. Also, the movie comes as a relief from the sermons that have come to be associated with feminist films.

Critics are calling this ZEE5 movie as “quirky, ridiculous and fun,” The News Minute reported. Definitely a must-watch thing for this weekend.

The high point of the movie, however, is undoubtedly our Lady Superstar. Interestingly and in a way, fascinatingly, Nayanthara does not perform any stunts or even raise her voice in the entire movie. However, the way she succeeds in pulling the rug from under the feet of her opponents despite being shown as meek and subdued is completely enchanting and engaging.

With the perseverance and commitment in her kitty, it is evident that Nayanthara will go a long way in changing the perception of an actress’ work in the South Indian film industry. The Lady Superstar has arrived and is here to stay!
