(Last Updated On: July 29, 2019)

When its raining, why to step out and get stuck somewhere? Brew a hot cup of coffee and get ready to binge-watch your way through this monsoon. And why not when there is no dearth of mind blowing stuff on Netflix, Prime Video and Hotstar.

So let’s get started. Here are some of the best things to watch on internet in July-August 2019:

1.     Stranger Things Season 3 (Netflix):

Yeah, the kiddos are back in Hawkins. They have grown up a bit. So is the demon. Stranger Things Season3 is a bit better than not-so-great Season 2 with some new characters like Robin (Maya Hawke), who works at the mall’s nautical-themed ice cream joint Scoops Ahoy with Steve (Joe Keery) and Lucas’s little sister Erica (Priah Ferguson). Apart from horror moments, camaraderie of the characters especially, Steve and Dustin’s bromance are also the high points. Tune in here.

 2.    Leila (Netflix):

India now has its own dystopian drama, thanks to Deepa Mehta. Leila will take you to a futuristic India where totalitarianism and notions of racial purity reign supreme.  The world is digitally way advanced but socially backward by many leaps with a communal leader in the process of identifying, recording and segregating the ‘pure’ from the ‘impure.’

Watch it here.

 3.    Sacred Games Season 2 (Netflix):

Well, still not out yet, the much-awaited second season of Sacred Games is set to hit our screens on Aug. 15. The trailer has left us excited with the glimpse of new characters thrown in between. Watch this space.

 4.    Dark (Netflix):

Tune in here.

 5.    Typewriter (Netflix):

India’s answer to Stranger Things, Typewriter has its fare share of spooky, soul-jerking moments. A tight script, brilliant cast (read Purab Kohli, Palomi Ghosh and Sameer Kochhar) and excellent storytelling by Sujoy Ghosh are some of the reasons you should totally watch this series right away.  6.    Gullak (Sony Liv):

This heart-warming, slice of life series revolving around a family of four is sweetest things that has come on internet space after a long time. This middle-middleclass family has their own set of problems- ‘tehri’ in the dinner, to scooty-or-not and bittersweet tussle of brothers over nothing. Click here to watch.

7.    Comicstaan Season 2 (Prime Video):

Comicstaan is back with season 2 with Kanan Gill, Zakir Khan, Kaneez Surka as mentors, Biswa Kalyan Rath, Kenny Sebastian, Neeti Palta, and Sumukhi Suresh as judges and Abish Mathew and Urooj Ashfaq as hosts. Click here to begin.

 8.    Hostages (Hotstar):

The series starring Tisca Chopra, Ronit Roy and Parvin Dabas is a bit complicated with many mini plots going around but overall the 10-episode series is good fun to watch. Click here to watch.

 9.    When They See Us (Netflix):

This chilling Netflix series about five Black youth wrongly charged and convicted of raping a woman in Central Park is too good to miss. There are some moments that might disturb you but try to stick with it as it is an extremely relevant tale which is needed to be heard by everyone in the present times of media trials and jumpy conclusions. Watch it right here.
