(Last Updated On: March 14, 2019)

Forrest Gump has found his Indian avatar. The one-of-its-kind hit will be remade in India under the title of Laal Singh Chaddha.

The revelation came from none other than Aamir Khan, who has officially confirmed that he is indeed doing the remake of Oscar-winning 1994’s Forrest Gump. Addressing the media on his birthday celebrations, the actor confirmed that his production house has indeed bought the rights and they will soon kick start the movie soon.

Forrest Gump’s Indian remake is titled Laal Singh Chaddha and will be directed by Secret Superstar’s director Advait Chandan. The actor also revealed that he will be sporting a turban for the movie and will undergo a massive transformation of his character.

Well, physical transformation is something that is not new for Aamir Khan, be it Dangal, 3 Idiots or Ghajini. For this particular project, the actor will admittedly have to lose 20 kgs of weight to fit into the character.

Forrest Gump is a classic movie that broke many records and barriers when it came out. The lead character was played by Tom Hanks alongside Robert Wright and Gary Sinise. The movie had won several accolades including that year’s Best Picture, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Visual Effects and Best Film Editing in Academy Awards.

No wonder the announcement of Forrest Gump’s Indian remake has brought excitement about the project. However, social media has a mixed response with many users seem not to be very happy about the Indian remake of a cult classic.
