October is here. As 2020 crawls to a closure, doesn’t this year appear to be the shortest and the longest one yet, at the same time? The world outside is nowhere close to pre-pandemic days so it is better not to think about hopping to cinemas yet even if they are set to open this month.
Don’t fret, as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+ Hotstar and SonyLIV are going to leave you spoiled with sea of choices this month and make sure your weekends are spend binge watching away. Here are 10 new Hindi shows and movies set to release in October 2020:
1. Khaali Peeli:
When: Oct 2
Where: ZEE Studio
Starring Ishaan Khatter and Ananya Panday in lead roles, the movie will take you on a fun journey across Mumbai. The trailer of the movie shows the duo on the run from gangs who are out to get them.
The movie seems to be a typical cat-and-mouse chase that will remind you of the 80s movies. If you can handle the fake Mumbai-street accent voiced by the lead pair, then go for this one. Or else, skip!
2. Serious Men:
When: Oct. 2
Where: Netflix
This Manu Joseph’s book adaptation, directed by Sudhir Mishra and starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui in the lead, is a mystery in itself. The movie leaves you astonished, confused, amused, sad, disappointed and elated at several points.
A stark difference from the rest, Serious Men should not be skipped. Do watch it and have your own experience.
3.Bad Boy Billionaires:
When: Oct. 6
Where: Netflix
Taut, well-researched and well-paced, this documentary is a great insight into what went wrong where when the mighty fell. The 3-episode documentary is out while the fourth episode is still under legal consideration but is rumored to hit our small screens very soon.
4. Ginny Weds Sunny:
When: Oct. 9
Where: Netflix
Ginny (Yami Gautam) and Sunny (Vikrant Massey) have completely contrasting personalities and yet they can’t help but fall for each other. This Bollywood rom-com might turn out to be breather and who knows for a couple of hours, we might end up forgetting the storm in which we are in.
5. Mirzapur 2:
When: Oct. 23
Where: Amazon Prime
Finally, after a long, long wait, Mirzapur Season 2 will be here this month. Carrying on the flavor of the first season, this season too is expected to be filled with action packed sequences, powerful performance, unpredictable plot twists and yes, a colorful language that will update your knowledge of profanities too!
6. Taish:
When: Oct 29
Where: ZEE5
With a cast of Pulkit Samrat, Jim Sarbh, Kriti Kharbanda and Harshvardhan Rane, Taish seems to bring an exciting end to October. Taish is a revenge drama that will be released as a feature film and then as a six-episode web-series.
Directed by Bejoy Nambiar, the story will chronicle the lives of two London-based contrasting families. What happens when their worlds collide forms the crux of the story.
7. Expiry Date:
When: Oct. 2
Where: ZEE5
If you are looking for an edge-of-the-seat thriller, try watching Expiry Date. The web-series revolves around two couples who find themselves in the midst of a vicious plot when their secrets and extramarital affairs come to the forefront.
8. Scam 1992:
When: Oct. 9
Where: Sony LIV
Scam 1992 is based on the real-life of Harshad Mehta, a stockbroker in 1980-90s Bombay. The series will chronicle his meteoric rise and catastrophic downfall.
9. Poison 2:
When: Oct. 16
Where: ZEE5
Remember 90s heartthrob Aftab Shivdasani? The actor is making his digital debut with his revenge drama. Watch out.
10. Naxalbari
When: TBA
Where: ZEE5
Starring Rajeev Khandewal in the lead role, the show revolves around an STF agent who goes on a secret mission to curb a naxal uprising in Gadchiroli. However, during the mission, he realises that there’s more to the uprising than what’s being shown.
